At the time, Diaz said that she only wanted to spend “two years” working her fingers to the bone for her acting career, it's just that the second year took her directly into working on Charlie's Angels. She told Nylon :
I've been saying that I'm working for the next two years really hard-that was last year, so it's been one year already. I have another year and I'm gonna work my ass off and then I'm going to take some time for myself. After meeting on the set of Mr. And Mrs. Smith, the two formed a partnership that destroyed one of America's most beloved couples and introduced the world to the concept of stars adopting A LOT of kids.

We were there for several days rehearsing so that the tigers would be relaxed and happy to be out there and that everything could be smooth and taken care of as best as possible. She was there rehearsing and working-just the hardest working, sweetest young girl, out there making all the pieces click together.

It's not that she stopped working, it was the opposite. Murphy appeared in at least one movie a year until she passed away in 2009 from a combination of pneumonia and anemia and a toxic cocktail of prescription drugs.
